1 ID NUMBER: 102246 Throughout history, it has been discovered that most worshiped leaders have gone overboard many times to obtain power and wealth that they have sucked out of their own people. Due to these undemocratic leaders, the society, government, and the people were left weak and without freedom. However, a great amount of power can so frequently lack the pursuit of social justice and democracy. Clearly, the two factors of wealth and power do not mix well with democracy and social justice. In detail, during the Hundred Year’s War, which had lasted from 1337 to 1453, had risen because of economic conflicts and how both the French king and England’s king wanted succession of the French Throne. When the English king, Edward the Third brought his army to Flanders, France to take claim of the rich area, the French decided to fight back. The Hundred Year’s War had begun at that point. Given that, most of the “knights” or soldiers enlisted in the war had been poor and unemployed. Thus, the wealthy nobles had the ability not to partake in the war by giving money and having someone who was not wealthy to fight in his place. Moreover, the nobles and the popes of the church were wealthy enough to escape the war and go into hiding in safer areas of the country meanwhile other peasants and poor townspeople were fighting the war. The war had also affected the population of feudal lords in France. In view of the decline of feudalism, the French peasants did not have personal freedom nor did they have social justice, peasants had to pay owed services to the lord while the French nobles still had power and wealth. However, corruption and social inequality had not come to a stop, not in the past, nor in the present. Considering, the Jim Crow Laws, laws that were created in the 1880’s into the 1960’s that restricted equality, but enabled racial segregation in all public facilities in the southern states of America. Hence, America has been known to be one of the most democratic countries in the world. America had plenty of authority and prosperity. Thus, it lacked in social justice and equality because white people and black people could not be in the same facilities or even come in contact with each other. That being the case a white nurse was forbidden to help treat a black person and schools were conducted separately for white and black children. Also, public transportation buses were separated from whites in the front seats while the black people either sat in the back seat or had to stay standing during the ride. In current events, segregation is still an ongoing conflict. Subsequently, in today’s world, corrupt officials seek to maintain their authority using unjust actions. Particularly, Donald Trump has earned the citizens attention by prejudiced and absurd proposals such as stating to build a wall separating both Mexico and America. Especially to keep illegal and undocumented immigrants out
