Aquitaine, France is located in the Southwest part of France. This area of France is known for their festivals, sports, crafts and legends. The capital of Aquitaine is Bordeaux, and it is one of the largest regions in France. It is split up into 5 departments. These include Gironde, Landes, Pyrenees Atlantiques, Lot et Garonne, and Dordogne. Aquitaine is made up of predominately lowlands, however the Pyrenees Mountains are located in the South. In the winter, the climate is mild and moist, however in the summers it is hot and dry, it has a very oceanic climate. It is roughly the same latitude as New York City and the average rainfall here is about 23 inches. When this happened, ties between England and Aquitaine were strengthened and they began transporting wine from France to England.
