Chapter II REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES In this chapter, the proponents look for related literatures and studies using research materials such as the internet, magazines, articles and as well as the use of library resources. Furthermore, this section will also present the synthesis of the system to fully understand the research to be done for better comprehension of the study. The University believes that improving the employees’ knowledge, skills, attitudes or behavior will not only lead to personal enhancement cut also to achieve the organizational goal. Hence the University established a Faculty Evaluation System to be the basis of Faculty’s performance. This FES is to measure or rate the effectiveness of the performance of the faculty’s teaching from students’ point of view. On the recent years, LPU uses Manual procedure on evaluating its faculty but due to unavoidable errors on conducting and tallying the records they come up on improving its Faculty evaluation system by using LAN-based Faculty evaluation system. LAN-based Faculty evaluation system is designed for more effective way to improve the evaluation for human resource department from manual procedure to automated system. Because a computer is a fast and accurate electronic symbol or data manipulating system that design automatically accept and store input data process and procedure output results under the direction of the stored program or instruction according to Sander (2002); development of technology through the years have enabled us to do more with less effort. From the orientation of the light bulb to the industrial revolution and beyond, we have continuously tried to in a more efficient means of doing tasks. This is emphasized by Ralph M. Stair (1999). According to Microsoft Corporation (2002), that computer network are collection of computer and intelligent peripheral equipment that are interconnected by telephone lines, microwave relays and other high-speed communication links for the purpose of exchanging data and sharing equipment. In the King William County Public Schools’ Teacher Performance Evaluation System (2014 - 2015) stated that the purpose of the evaluation system is to raise the quality of instruction and educational service to the children of the community, to raise the standards of the division as a whole, and to support the continuous growth and development of each teacher by monitoring, analyzing, and applying pertinent data compiled within a system of meaningful feedback.
