Taylor Swift was born December 13, 1989 in Wyomissing Pennsylvania. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of 14 to start her music career in country music. She signed with Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter hired by the Sony Music publishing house. She released a self-titled album in 2006 which marked the start of her career as a country music singer. She released her first hit single “Tim McGraw” in June 2006 and it was followed by four other successful singles: "Teardrops on My Guitar", "Our Song", "Picture to Burn" and "Should've Said No.” All of these singles did remarkably well for a young 16-17 year old girl who had a sound not like my others. Swift reached a completely new group of fans with her music, teenage girls who listened to Country. The album sold 39,000 copies during its first week of release and, went on to sell over 5.5 million copies worldwide. Taylor also released a holiday album, Sounds of the Season: The Taylor Swift Holiday Collection, in October 2007, and an EP, Beautiful Eyes, in July 2008. She went on her first headlining tour for the album and it featured 105 dates across North America, Europe, Australia and Asia. Taylor invited Faith Hill, John Mayer, and Katy Perry to perform with her at various dates and even had Justin Bieber as an opener at one point. The tour was attended by more than 1.1 million fans and grossed over $63 million. Swift released a concert film shortly after and was aired on television and later released on DVD.
