Annotated Bibliography Ehmke, Rachel. “Teens and Social Media.” Childmind.org. N.p, 26 Nov. 2013. Web. 10 Mar. 2015. In her article, Ehmke talks about the impact of social media on teens and how it is affecting their lives and personalities in a negative way. The author directs this article to parents and to anyone that is dedicated to transforming mental health care for children. Ehmke agrees with the fact that, “experts worry that the social media and floods of text messages that have become so integral to teenage life are promoting anxiety and lowering self-esteem in the young people who use them the most.” She supports that fact by providing examples of the negative effects of social media such as cyberbullying, imposter syndrome, stalking,…show more content…
This article is a great support for my argument since it has most of the ideas that I need and it is also referencing many other good sources that agrees with my claims. American Academy of Pediatrics. Web. 10 Mar. 2015. The authors in this report are trying to notify pediatricians and let them be “aware of the nature of social media sites,” since “not all of them are healthy environments for children and adolescents.” First of all, the authors listed some of the great advantages that come from social media and how it can affect ids and teens in a positive way, such as, how it affected socialization and communication, enhanced learning opportunities, and how it helped teenagers in accessing health information. Then, they mentioned the risks of youth using social media, and how there are “online expressions of offline behaviors” such as “bullying, clique-forming, and sexual experimentation, that have introduced problems such as cyberbullying, privacy issues, and ‘sexting.’” The authors also point out other uncommon or infrequent problems that call…show more content…

Web. 10 Mar. 2015. The author of this article is presenting his/her ideas and offering guidance for all parents that fear the impacts of social media on their kids. The author believes that parents shouldn’t use monitors and programs to try to prevent their children from accessing social networks. He/she claims, “Social media present risks and benefits to children but parents who try to secretly monitor their kids’ activities online are wasting their time.” Instead, they should start talking early and often to their children about appropriate technology use in order to build trust, so when a problem occurs later on, children could talk to their parents about it. The author also writes about both the negative and the positive influences of social media on kids to show that there are some good results that come with the use of social media, and that it is not always a bad thing to
