After reading the short story "The Most Dangerous Game", the theme developed was true pain can't be felt if you haven't experienced it yourself. The text states, "Then it was that Rainsford knew the full meaning of terror." The quote describes how Rainsford had only encountered slight terror, but undergoing the hunt made him realize what real terror is.
