The career field that I have chosen to research is Radiologic Technology. Radiologic Technologists are in charge of performing diagnostic imaging examinations of patients with x-rays machines. I am interested in this career field because it combines medical care and technical knowledge to aid patients in their time of need. I have always found patient care in all forms a great way to give back to the community. After taking the “Kuder Skills Confidence Assessment” my code was R.I.S, which stand for Realistic, Investigative and Social. This assessment was very accurate in describing myself and highlighting my interests. There is several ways to go about starting a career in the field. Many can take their first step by attending community college or technical college. This route will reward you with an Associate Degree. Many hospitals also offer two-year based program. You also have the option to go after a four-year degree program through a university. This route will reward you with a Bachelor Degree. If this career field interest you and your in high school it would behoove you to start looking into taking classes that focus in the areas of science and math. Some classes that come to mind are mathematics, biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology and physics. Taking these classes will put you above your peers as most college radiology programs are formed using a lottery type system. A quick search through the internet will give you an idea of what is in your immediate area. I plan on completing my undergrad here at Austin Peay State University. Following that I plan on taking my major Radiologic Technology classes such as: RLTN 2050 - Medical Terminology - Description: An introduction to medical vocabulary including definition of terms, general usage, spelling, and pronunciation.…show more content…

JRCERT’s mission states “The JRCERT is the only agency recognized by the United States Department of Education(USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), for the accreditation of traditional and distance delivery educational programs in radiography, radiation therapy, magnetic resonance, and medical dosimetry”.
