Black lives matter is an activist movement that started back in July 2013 in the United States. The movement campaigns against police brutality in the United States against African-Americans. It all started when the police offer, George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin who was not committing any crimes when he was shot. Amongst other African-American people that were shot and killed, it has become a great movement in America. The movement began as the hashtag, #BlackLivesMatter after Zimmerman shot Martin back in 2013. Michael Brown and Eric Garner are also two of the many African-American who were killed by police officers that were not charged. The movement was co-founded by Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi. Although all three founders run organizations and websites, it has no formal structure or hierarchy. People from all around the United States hold campaigns against what they believe is wrong. They believe that the organization is a unique contribution that goes beyond extrajudicial killing of black people by the police and vigilantes.…show more content…
It was not fair that Darren Wilson who killed Michael Brown did not face any charges for killing him. If it would have been the opposite scenario, an African-American police officer shooting a Caucasian man then it would have been a major deal. The African-American man would have been charged and gone to jail. A suggestion that could help to stop the violence is for police men to wear cameras. They should not use the excuse that they would cost too much because the government spends money on other non-important things. Another thing that could possibly help, is to make them go through a deception scenario where they are tested how they would react in specific scenarios dealing with different
