1. Why are you interested in working in a position in PR? I’m interested in working in PR bc my experience with it has been so enjoyable and it’s been great fit for me already. I really enjoy the variety that pr provides. With it, I learn something new everyday and am always working on different projects. Public relations has enabled me to develop so many of my skills on a daily basis such as writing, public speaking and multi-tasking. Additionally, PR interests me because it gives me the opportunity to think creatively. Creative thinking plays such a large role within PR and I get the chance to utilize it with every aspect. What are some of your top strengths that would make you a good fit for this role? My top strengths include my adaptability, deadline orientation, detail orientation, ability to multi-task and writing skills. Adaptability- A change of plans does not hinder me. My flexible nature allows me to easily adjust not only to shifting priorities on a day to day basis but industry changes as well. With the ever changing landscape of Public relations flexibility is crucial and that is an attribute of mine that I’ve acquired over the years. It keeps me on my toes. Detail orientation- In the PR industry, accuracy can mean everything. My attention to detail aids in multiple aspects of my professional life. As a journalist, I pride myself on fact checking and getting information right. As a graphic designer, the details are what makes a design distinctive. Communication is key. Writing isn’t the only element of PR but it’s one of the most important. According to PRSSA, “At its core, public relations is about influencing, engaging and building a relationship with key stakeholders across a myriad of platforms in order to shape and frame the public perception of an organization,” and writing is extremely central to that description.
