I remember the time where I shocked everyone who ever doubted I could do anything. I did this by participating in a marathon in 6th grade. The marathon was called “We Run This City” and was a 26 mile run. Being overweight for my age at the time, I was always being put down because of it. Always being told I couldn’t do anything, and being the underdog that I am, I wanted to prove them wrong. My opportunity came one day when my gym teacher handed out permission slips for the marathon. I had to build up enough confidence to go through with it. Soon after I turned in my permission slip, we began training for the run.
