The Stanley Milgram Experiment

The Stanley Milgram Experiment was where there’s a “scientist” in the same room as you with other test subjects. One person acts as a teacher, who reads you a series of questions. If you get a question wrong, you will get shocked. The generator goes all the way up until 450 volts, which is potentially a deadly level. But, just because the scientist tells you to, you’re supposed to keep going. Even though the people are clearly in pain, because you can hear them screaming, you’re have to continue. But the thing is, they weren’t actually being shocked at all. It was just a test to see how long you would continue doing it. The first man, after getting to about 100 volts or so, stopped after he heard the scream; two or three people actually kept…show more content…
One guy even said that they need to put more volts on it, because he ran out. I couldn’t have gone through with that experiment for any length of time. I might have been able to do one or two at a very low voltage, but after I heard someone scream, I don’t think I could go on with it, that’s awful. I think the people who kept it going to the highest point definitely have a few issues. How could you keep hurting someone you don’t even know, just because some scientist (who you also don’t know) is telling you to? The first man, you could tell, felt bad about what he was doing. He told the man he wasn’t doing it anymore, which is what I would’ve done as well. I think the guy that said they need to put more levels on the shock was seriously messed up. I mean, I’m sure if you went any higher that would’ve potentially killed the person being shocked. I don’t understand his logic in all of that, but whatever. The next video I watched was where the old man got run over by a car, and no…show more content…
A few minutes later, a man approaches him and asks him if he’s alright. Several more people come along a few seconds later, and within minutes there’s a small crowd gathered around him trying to help him. They do the same thing, but this time with a woman. There’s no telling how many people passed by her, and just kept walking, like they didn’t even see her. I think the main problem nowadays is that people care WAY too much about how someone looks. They just ignored the guy the first time because they assumed he was just some homeless guy and that he doesn’t need help, when in reality, he would’ve needed more help than the guy in the suit. I think that everyone deserves the same kind of attention and help, no matter what you look like. I don’t see why that matters so much to some people. If I thought any one of them genuinely needed help, I would’ve at least stopped and asked them if they were okay. That’s another reason why the general public disgusts me. Looks are so important that you would deny someone that needed help just because they didn’t meet your standards. I think people just need to get off their high horses because in reality, they’re probably no better than the people on the
