Martin Luther King Jr. is a well know man for many reasons. Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1929. He was the second child born into Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King family. Martin was born in Alabama, Georgia; he grew up in Auburn city. Martin attended segregated public schools, at the age 15 he was admitted into Morehouse College. Martin studied law and medicine while attending Morehouse just as his father and grandfather did. Martin did not want to follow in his dad footsteps an become part of the ministry, but under mentoring influence of Morehouse President , Dr. Benjamin Mays, is mind was surly changed. Dr. Benjamin Mays was a theologian and outspoken advocate for racial equality. King Graduated in 1948, after that he entered crozier theological seminary in Pennsylvania. He received a bachelor’s of divinity degree, he was also elected resident of his predominantly white senior class. King enrolled in a graduate program at Boston University. There he completed his coursework in 1953 and earned a doctorate degree in systematic theology two years later.…show more content…
It didn’t take long for them to decide they wanted to be married. They got married June 18, 1953. They moved to Montgomery, Alabama and settled down. While living in Montgomery King became the pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church. On November 17, 1955 Martin and Coretta King welcomed their first child a baby girl named Yolanda Denise King. Two years later they welcomed their second child Martin Luther King III on October 23, 1957. On January 30th 1961 15 days after Martins birthday they had their third child named Dexter Scott King. Two years later they welcomed their fourth and final child Bernice King on March 28th
