The road has a significant meaning to it in the story. As we know, Janie has gone through a lot through the book. She has been to a lot of places from the beginning, to the middle, and to the end. Have you ever had a long bumpy road in your life like Janie has? In life we experience a lot of bumps in our roads and face obstacles in our life. We don’t choose the things that happen just like Janie had no control over what all happen in her life. At the beginning of the story Janie is trying to find love. Her idea of love was a husband and wife loving each other eternally. Janie is having trouble finding a man. Her grandmother, the person who raised her said to marry a man named Logan Killicks. She still did not have love for Logan and he is treating her wrong. Logan is trying to make Janie work and she was not going for that. Janie ended up meeting a man named Jody Starks. Jody told Janie she did not deserve to be treated how Logan is treating her. So, Jody asked Janie to run off with him. That’s exactly what she did to. She ran off with the man named Jody and left Logan. She is still married with Logan at this point. They ran off to a town and Jody became the mayor of the town. Jody opened up and store and always had Janie come in so she would attract customers by her beauty. Jody was treating her fine and they got married. After a while Jody stated to treat Janie wrong. She learned to keep her comments to herself. Janie was happy at first with Jody but then began to lose feelings and thinking twice about her decision. Janie was not as upset as you thought she would be. Jody ended up dying of an illness. Janie wasn’t upset at all, but she felt relief. Janie finally felt free again. She actually had some freedom to do anything she wanted and did not have somebody holding her back from anything. Janie kept up with the store and decided to stay in the town. A man named Tea Cake came along. He knew he wanted Janie the first time he laid eyes on her. They end up dating and eventually get married. Janie sells the store and they run off to a faraway place known as the Everglades. Things were going great for them. Tea Cake taught her how to live and taught her a whole bunch of stuff. She finally found love. A storm ended up coming, it was a hurricane. Janie was drowning and tea Cake saved her. Tea Cake ended up getting bit from a dog with rabies. He began to get very sick. Janie got the doctor and said he would not make it. He would soon die of this illness. Tea Cake one day thought Janie was cheating and he tried shooting her. Janie ended up having to shoot Tea Cake out of self-defense. This hurt her
