Throughout the duration of an individual life they will have the responsibility to make a decision. One can be dedicated to their values, reasons, and objectives, or turned a blind eye when the course they are on gets rough. When the path a person is on gets bumpy the individual may try to look for the first exit out. An individual may feel the need to conform as the result of a peer’s influence. The person at hand may feel the urge to shy away from the decision they choose brashly, but are faced with the realization that it may be too late. In the poem person one is influenced by person two “The downhill path is easy, come with me and it please ye,” the first individual’s choice is affected by the second person’s voice of opinion. This impact often happens within many schools. Students are left with the obligation of choosing their classes, as it is their future at hand. Although, it is the student’s sole decision, they can be easily swayed by what their friends believe they should do. However the word portentous at the end of the line indicates that something may happen to change the worry free course they’re on. As the school year continues one may become aware that the classes they have chosen are far too easy for their comprehension level. The individual might be learning little to nothing each day because the class is moving at a slower pace than their skill level. It may come to the point where a person is so bored they are reluctant to do any of their work.
