Genetics Castellanos Diana Dear Mr. and Mrs. Garcia, We just got some news from our lab this morning and wanted to inform you as soon as possible. Your child’s genetic tests came back and we have some unfortunate news. Your child has what we call Fragile X Syndrome. Please do not be alarmed as we are trying to help you and your family with this common mutation. Fragile X Syndrome is a genetic condition that causes intellectual disability, behavioral and learning challenges and various physical characteristics. It is acknowledged for being a common autistic trait and is more likely to happen on males. It is known for children with autism to have bigger physical characteristics and to be hyperactive. There is ways of helping the children with their emotions; programs that can help parents go through therapy like the child. Living with this condition is hard for both the child and the family and anything to keep your connection as close as possible is good. When Alexis becomes an adult, he should be able to take care of himself but it is always encouraged for family to keep contact. Since he has a very common and low level of autism, he will be as respondent not like other children. As a grown up, Alexis should continue to go to support groups because ultimately we do not know as doctors what the entire outcome of how his life will…show more content…
