The standardized test is an assessment used in some areas to measure student growth and to rate schools according to the scores that the school made on the assessment. Many people believe that standardized tests are not necessary for the development of the students. Standardized tests have been used in many areas for quite a while. Many people in these areas want to get ride of standardized testing because they feel that it has no good impacts on students. Standardized tests can measure student achievement. It shows how good or bad a student did on a particular test in a specific subject. It shows what concepts a student did well on and what concepts a student may need additional help or review on in a particular subject. Standardized tests are a good way to compare students, schools, teachers, etc. Standardized tests are usually a test or a set of similar tests that are scored in a consistent manner which allows for the comparison of individuals or a group of people based on their test scores. Results from a standardized test show what to teach to students in certain areas because teachers may teach or reteach certain things in certain subjects to their students. It may also let bigger organizations like the district or government consider if they should change the curriculum or if they should fund certain subjects more than others, etc. Standardized testing is mostly multiple choice, so there is no bias when the test is graded. It is also graded by machines rather than human beings so that there is even less bias when the tests are being graded. Parents, students and teachers have said that they approve of standardized tests. A 2013 June-July poll found that 75% of parents said that standardized tests are a good way to measure their child's abilities, 69% of parents say that standardized testing measures the school's teaching quality, 93% of parents said that standardized tests show where their child needs to work on and 61% of parents say that their child takes a good amount of standardized tests. A June 2006 survey on students age 6-12 found that 71 % of the students said they take the right amount of tests and 79% of students feel that the test questions in standardized tests are fair. A 2009 survey found that 81% of US public school teachers said that they test was kind of important to student achievement and 27% of those teachers felt that the tests were very important to student achievement.
