It has always been interesting to me to see what both genders think in term of “hookups.” As an heterosexual non-married lady as myself, I do relate with the people of the same sexual orientation as me a lot more, and I have always wondered what is the stigmatism of the phrase hookups and the perceptions of not only both genders, but also heterosexuals and homosexuals’ individuals. I favor a long term relationship and usually hope that it would result in a long term commitment or marriage. While some of us share the same perception on what hook-ups means to us, there are some people who also see hook-ups in a different light. For the young adults who think hookups a little more than what they may initially think it is tends to fall in and out of it so quickly and its leaves them with empty space. As a female, I can say that hooking ups is not necessarily fun for a lot of females, it is however, a means to feel wanted and emotionally attached in most cases. Females who choose to sleep around or should I say hookups for one reason or another (there’s always a reason for it) are labeled as low-self-esteem, promiscuous, and so many other derogatory words. Men on the other hands can hook up all day long with little to non-emotional weakness; some men see this as what is mostly known as: just having fun, it’s a one-time thing and etc. Some males, condone their acts as this is part of what make a male different from a female; they give excuses such as “we are born to this way,” they laugh it off, they would even encourage each other about hooking up even if it is with the same girl and that when I’ll view a female who hookups with friends with lack of
