According to Valdosta State University College of Education, the teacher candidates are expected to follow the Conceptual Framework: Guiding Principles. The College of Education Conceptual Framework: Guiding Principles are also known as DEPOSITS. DEPOSITS is an acronym for the eight principles: Dispositions, Equity, Process, Ownership, Support, Impact, Technology, and Standards. Teacher candidates use the DEPOSITS to become knowledgeable, successful, and experienced professionals. The eight principles help base an educational philosophy. The Dispositions Principle is the first Guiding Principle for the Conceptual Framework. The Equity Principle states that all learners deserve high expectations and support. Hold high expectations for all students no matter their background and learning level or ability. Believe that students can achieve anything. Give the children space and time to explore their capabilities and expand beyond their capabilities. Using knowledge from the Equity Principle, create experiences for students to be able to achieve. In addition to the Guiding Principles, there is the Process Principle. It states that learning is a lifelong process of development and growth. Teaching is a lifelong process and the learning never ends. It is a continuous learning process. The teacher needs to prepare students how to ask questions and encourage them to keep asking questions. Also, the teacher encourages the students to find ways to make a difference in their community. It states that evidence-based standards systematically guide professional preparation and development. The evidence-based standards allows the teacher to know where the students are at in that point of time. It is timely and effective support. Evidence-based standards allows the teacher time to assess students on each standard. Then, use the data from the assessments to inform the teacher which students mastered the standard and which students that did not master it. Preparation provides the teacher the ability to work and group students based on their level or ability. The Standards Principle allows students to meet their full potential. These guidelines serve as the foundation for future and current educators. Each one of the guidelines provide something different for educators to use in order to improve their classroom, teaching practices, teaching strategies, and more.
