CHAPTER 3 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 3.1 Introduction This chapter will discuss research methodologies, their need, particular facts, research area, the model and the sampling technique used in this study. The methodology selected for the collection of data is also discussed in detail. Total number of computer users in KPT are approximately 450. Targeted audiences for this research are the Shipping Agents, Traffic department of KPT and Stevedores who had access to WeBOC at KPT. Sample size is 100 individuals. This research is persistently based on the Shipping agents, Stevedores, staff of KPT and accordingly their response on impact of implementation of WeBOC on KPT is explored. Keeping the objective of this study, I have selected the few important departments of KPT involved in operations and Finance. There are total thirty (30) departments at Karachi Port Trust. Therefore, the sample size for this study is 50, resulting in a response rate of 50%. Needless to say, the sample may not be totally representative of the population; hence the generalizability of the findings may be restricted. 3.4 Primary data collection and Measurement 3.4.1 Questionnaire Questionnaire is the main source for data collection in numerous of researches. This phase started with data collection from Shipping Agents and Stevedores of KPT through questionnaire. The themes of each group (employee, managers and customers) of KPT were chosen for data to investigate the impact of roll-out of WeBOC in KPT’s performance since they are know the processes of the firm. Primarily, the target of the research was to talk over with the Head of various Stevedore and shipping agents of KPT. Afterward research questionnaire was sent for collecting data from Offices.
