Deborah Prothrow Smith, a public health professor from Harvard, once said that violence is all connected. Youth violence is said to be taught and passed down from surroundings to kids. The kids with overactive violence will one day take it out on their kids and it will be a continuous cycle until one takes action. But what exactly is youth violence? Youth violence refers to violent or harmful behaviors from teens to twenty-four year olds. According to the CDC, youth violence is the third leading cause of death for young people between the ages of 15 to 24. A girl under the name of ‘’Jane Doe’’ was a sixteen year old sophomore who was excited to attend the school dance that night. Like any other girl he got her hair done and picked out her favorite dress for the evening. While she was there having a good time a group of men aged fifteen to thirty invited her to go drink with them on the football field. She agreed and followed them to the football field and got drunk with them. After she was drunk, the men asked for sex, but when she refused they started throwing themselves on her and beating her. They beat the sixteen year old until she could no longer fight back and then proceeded raping her on the football field with as many as twenty seven men watched or participated. This horrifying act lasted for at least two hours as they took turns raping and beating her. Later she was found under a picnic bench where the men left her. The police arrested seven men, Marcelles Peter, Abdallah Morael, Cody Smith, Jose Montano, Manual Ortega, Salvador Rodrigues and John Crane. Marcelles and Jose were sentenced to thirty-three and twenty-nine years while Abdullah and Manuel are sentenced to twenty-seven and thirty-two year sentences. John Crane will pay fifteen thousand dollars and will be registered as a sex offender. Only Salvador was released due to insufficient evidence. All of those men
