In Gerard Jones’ essay “Violent Media Is Good For Kids,” he argues that violence in media is not necessarily harmful to youth, and can actually be a positive thing for children. As a young boy, Gerard Jones was taught by his parents and other authoritative figures in his life that violence is wrong. This caused him to spend part of his childhood hiding behind his fears and masking his true desires behind a façade. One of his mother’s students convinces her that the Marvel Comics, though sometimes perceived as violent, actually contain depth with positives messages behind each story.
