Western films have always been popular in America. The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (1966), directed by Sergio Leone, starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, and Eli Wallach, is an example of a well-known Western film. However, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly is different than most other popular Western movies - it's a spaghetti Western, meaning it's a low-budget film directed and produced by Europeans ("Spaghetti Western."). The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly tells the story of three men during the Civil War. "The Good" is a man with no name, usually referred to as Blondie. "The Bad" is is Angel Eyes, a sociopathic villain willing to kill to get what he wants. Finally, "The Ugly" is Tuco, a greedy bandit. In the beginning of the film, Blondie and Tuco work together. Blondie turns Tuco in for reward money, then proceeds to save him right before he is hanged and they split their winnings. When Blondie, Tuco, and Angel Eyes all learn about the $200,000 in gold a man named Bill Carson has hidden, it becomes a matter of who can get to the money first. Tuco and Blondie team up against Angel Eyes, and the film ends in an epic showdown between the three of them at the site of the gold.
