The first Mumbai store was opened in 2008 at Bhandup. The Kolkata store located at Kalikapur, EM Bypass was opened in 2008. A Metro cash & carry store was opened at Ludhiana city in Punjab in the first week of September 2011, Located on the jallandhar Bypass road. The second store in Mumbai was opened on 17 November 2011, near Western Express Highway, Borivli (E). In the beginning of 2012 Metro opened 2 more stores in northern India including one in New Delhi and one in Jaipur with plans to open more.
