Epic heroes possess the abilities to do things that most simply could not do. The epic hero is normally out to complete something, a task or goal, with the abilities that were given to him. An epic hero is one who completes the task at hand but in such ways that can not be explained; Someone who when they die, are still being talked about years and centuries after their lives. Beowulf did every bit of what an epic hero should do. Beowulf fought of massive Beasts, beat sea monsters, and fought with Dragons to save and protect his people; “struggled seven long nights to survive” (Raffel 70).
