Jake Sully is a former Marine confined to a wheelchair. But despite his broken body, Jake is still a warrior at heart. The lead actors are Sam Worthington as Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as Neytiri, Michelle Rodriguez as Trudy Chacon, Stephen Lang as Colonel Miles Quaritch and Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine. Avatar is a sci-fi film directed by the legendary James Cameron who also directed Aliens, Titanic, Terminator and many other movies. The story begins in a space ship going to Pandora, light years away from Earth, in this scene we see Jake mourning the loss of his brother. Jake is recruited to go on a mining expedition for a rare mineral name unobtanium which is the key to solving Earth’s energy crisis. When Jake is ordered to learn the Na’vi way of life, complications soon ensue. Cameron uses modern special effects in the movie which makes the movie more interesting to the eyes of the audience. The sophisticated special effects showed me something I have never seen before. It reminded me of what movies can do, and what they are capable of. Cameron definitely raised the bar this year with his new movie Avatar, many moviegoers will be flocking to the cinemas to watch this movie. Even Avatar surprised me with an endless amount of unparalleled impeccable visual effects. This movie definitely deserved the award for the best visual effects.…show more content…
In this film Horner takes an admirably counter-intuitive approach, there are some parts in the movie where the music conveys a melancholy atmosphere. Horner does a good job by selecting the perfect musical piece for the significant scenes. In emotional scenes in the movie I was sucked into the moment onscreen while enjoying the other aspects of the music. As we reach the climatic moments of the film, we hear Horner taking his composition skills to the next level.
