Ever since we were in kindergarten, we were told that we would be America’s future, and we believed them. We believed our nation would do anything to cultivate our future and our desire for knowledge. We were to be lit on fire with ambition to make the world incredible, and we were perplexed when our promises were broken. We were perplexed when educators were released and programs were eradicated because of budget cuts. We were forced to find other, cheaper things to occupy our minds. Not only did the school lay-off teachers, but the remaining teachers had to compensate for the lack of teachers. They were forced to take on more responsibility.
