In the Hebrew Bible woman were meant to be a companion of man. At first Adam was the only human in existence and had no other companions besides the animals. All the animals had a pair a male and a female, Adam was the only one without one. The Lord said “That it’s not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper.
