The atomic bomb, one of the most toxic and fatal weapons ever invented, was dropped on Hiroshima on the 6th of August 1945, and then again on Nagasaki three days later. It was dropped by the Americans who were against the Japanese in World War II. Although it ended the war I still believe the Americans should not have dropped the bomb. At least not when they did. The Americans chose to drop the bomb so that they could end the war and save up to one million American soldiers’ lives. “We have used it in order to shorten the agony of war, in order to save the lives of thousands and thousands of young Americans. I honestly believe Japan would have surrendered without the bombs being dropped. If the Americans had kept on fighting with conventional weapons, I think Japan would have seen they were not going to win, and the war would have ended without there being anywhere near as many deaths. Instead, the Americans decided to use the bomb. Yes, the Japanese may not have believed one weapon could have been so potent, but the Americans could have at least tried it out before they decided to kill hundreds of thousands of Japanese citizens. Many of them died instantly, whilst others had to suffer from headaches, terrible burns and other horrific injuries for years afterwards, due to the Radiation. When the Americans dropped the bomb, there was a huge explosion. Anyone in the blast area was incinerated by the heat wave. This left shadows on the walls and the most awful burns for those a bit further away. A few seconds later, there was a shock wave which destroyed buildings, shelters, and anything that was keeping innocent people and their children safe.
