“Standardized testing has swelled and mutated, like a creature in one of those old horror movies, to the point that it now threatens to swallow our schools whole” (Kohn, 2000). Children this generation have never had the opportunity to succeed because of how much pressure is put onto the students to do well on the standardized tests. Some students fail under the pressure of these tests and causes them to not do as well as they could and in some cases cause students to drop out of school. Sometimes standardized tests hurt more than they help students because if they get low score they would not be able to get in the school of their choosing or believe they do not have a chance to go to school at all.
