The Longest Ride: Score One For The Book In society today, we live in a digital world where romance is getting a match on tinder, a DM (direct message) on twitter, or a long sweet text message. We often believe that traditional love stories or chivalry is a thing of the past. However, in Nicholas Sparks’s book The Longest Ride, he once again gives readers a hope that chivalry still exist in his well written modern romance book and now movie. The Longest Ride tells two stories that intertwine about two couples in North Carolina. Ira, an old widowed man, wrecks his car in a snow embankment and becomes stranded for a few days. During the days that Ira was stranded he begins to relive memories of his wife that he believes saves his life. He relives the struggles that his wife, Ruth, and him went through. Yet, even though that they faced struggles, they faced them together and still managed to be madly in love with each other. The second story is about a young couple. Sophia is a senior at Wake Forrest University who faces the stress of finals, what to do after graduation and had recently broken up with her ex-boyfriend. Then Luke who is a professional bull ride who faces the struggles of having to provide for his mother and to put food on the table, while helping his mother run the family owned ranch. The actresses/actors chosen to play the characters for the film depicted the characters from the book very well. Scott Eastwood, who played Luke, fit the part perfectly. He has the face for a cowboy, and easily won my heart over. The chemistry between Sophia, played by Britt Robertson, and Luke was just how I imagined it in the book. The movie The Longest Ride is the perfect movie for one that wants a good modern romance mixed in with a traditional love story. But, with every romance one needs to have a kleenex box in arms
