Every year, there are hundreds of attempts made to ban books. These actions are committed in order to protect people from complexed ideas that are thought to be inappropriate for their age. There are those who believe that libraries, schools, and the government are qualified enough to be able to determine if a book is good for kids. Others believe that such power should be given to the kids directly or their parents. 11,300 books have been challenged throughout the years, but the good news is that it's actually rare for a book to be banned.
