The Boy in the Striped Pajamas By: John Boyne The book, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, analyzes the lives of two young boys who live in Germany during the Holocaust era. It is displayed that the lives of these children are extremely different although they have much in common with each other such as the fact that they share the same birthday. However, one difference changes the lives of these two dramatically. That difference is the fact that they each worship different religions. This small difference leads others to believe that if people worship a specific religion then they are inferior to them. John has been studying the Holocaust for quite some time and read most of the works of the significant writers on the topic. It is clear to see that he based the book off of real events that occurred during that time. However, he actually never thought he would write about the Holocaust but the topic intrigued him so much for some reason that he ended up doing it anyway. John Boyne is most likely not biased because he studied the facts about the Holocaust before he wrote this book and based the book mainly off of the information he gathered. John Boyne won a few awards to prove that he is qualified enough to write this novel. He won the Hennessy Literary ‘Hall of Fame’ Award in 2012 for his entire collection of works.
