Introduction The strategy and improvement plan is geared towards improving the quality of the environment, achieved by improving litter standards, minimizing pollution, making it eco-friendly and a place congenial for tourists and improving feelings of safety and security & engendering a sense of care & respect for the place which people live, work & visit. In this project, a detailed analysis of waste management has been done. It would illustrate the concept and element of waste management and different measures to eliminate waste. The term is generally used to materials that are produced by human activity and this process is generally undertaken to reduce hazardous effect on health, and environment. Solid waste is generally produced by domestic households, commercial and industrial bodies and health care institutions. Waste generation system in India is lower than the low-income countries in other parts of the world and much lower as compared to the developed countries. However the lifestyle change especially in the bigger cities is leading to the use of more packaged materials and the per capita waste generation is increasing day by day. However there has been a significant rise in the generation of Municipal Solid Waste in India in the last few decades. This is largely as a result of rapid population growth in the country. The reason for this trend could be the changing lifestyle, food habits and changes in the standard of living . Educate and engage business, organizations, public agencies and residents. 2. Adopt and implement support Zero Waste Action Plans through increase source of reduction, reuse, recycling and composting. 3. Manage the solid waste and liquid waste separately that ultimately must be disposed in an efficient and environmentally protective manner 4. Adopt stable long-term funding mechanism that provides sufficient revenue for local programs while providing incentives for increased waste reductions and diversions. C.
