Field Placement Garthwait (2014 p. 7) defines the social work practicum as a “unique opportunity in which you are offered the opportunity to prepare for professional social work practice.” This process where knowledge and skills are integrated within the context of field placement. My field placement is the opportunity to utilize the knowledge and skills gained through the Walden University Masters of Social Work program. Since the field placement is closely monitored by my agency supervisor and Walden University professional staff, I will be able to receive assistance in my areas of struggle. • Empower and equip our clients with reliable, evidenced based information through open communication between client, staff, and clinical team. My current field placement is at my place of employment. Because of this, my supervisor has focused on areas that are unrelated to my current position. My field experience will include designing a research based curriculum for survivors of domestic violence support group; design a community resource book as a mode of connecting client systems with services; advocacy at the city level as a method of improving the interactions between the client systems and their environment; and attend professional workshops as a mode of enhancing my knowledge base. In completing the self-assessment for identifying strengths and weaknesses, I have identified the areas that need to address. Researching material and developing a curriculum for the domestic violence will be a challenging experience for me. However, I am looking forward to the challenges set in place by the field placement learning
