The Pocahontas Dispute Many historians have argued whether or not Pocahontas actually saved John Smith's life. I believe Pocahontas did not save John Smith's life. First off, in one of his accounts, there was no mention of her in his first account. Secondly, the chief went from nice to violent in a moment, which in unrealistic. In Document A, it described the chief and his surroundings , but said nothing of Pocahontas. In document C, it asks why would a chief who was so nice, turn in a moment against his guest. John Smith made no effort to talk about Pocahontas in Document A. His words were, "He promised to give me what I wanted and to feed us if we made hatchets and copper" (Document A).
