Symbolic characters are usually the characters that appear the most in a story. Lord of the Flies contains two characters who portray an allegory to human nature. Jack and Piggy are symbolic characters in the story leading to the allegory of the overall novel, both characters symbols contradict each other. Jack, a symbol of violence, greed, and evil contradicts Piggy’s gentle, innocent, and intellectual symbolism. Piggy, a character who is insecure about himself, but has great decision making skills for survival, depicts the typical human who does right by society based on intelligence and moral background.
