If you were given an opportunity of a lifetime, would you grab the chances? I would. That was the start of the beginning. Without thinking twice I start a new life in a foreign country, while trying to appreciate it’s strange language. Would you be surprise that you have to start from scratch? Would you feel frustrated? Excited? Or perhaps overwhelmed? Is it possible to adapts to the nature of that foreign language? From my earliest memory, attempting to learn another language was similar to a newborn child learning to walk. Just like a newborn, new relationships will form. Unfortunately, I was faced with a new challenge. I must go to school! For the first time ever in my life, I am truly frightened, fearful, and nervous. Here I am, sitting on a small size child chair holding my two small fists together. Praying that no one caught my shaking hands. As a young child I have form a strong attachment to my parents. No wonder I couldn’t follow along! Since she was talking so fast I thought she might be at the bottom of the page. In reality, she was still at the second paragraph. As quick as the wind my little heart quickly calm down. I, then, carefully follow along. Over the next couple of days, I started to learn to read children books. I was excited! In fact, I was extremely excited! I read “The Gingerbread Man”, “Red Riding Hood”, “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”, “The Ugly Ducking”, and “Jack and the Beanstalk.” What eventually become my favorite was “Hansel and Gretel.” As a young child myself, what grabbed my interested was Hansel and Gretel encounters with the witch. I remember reading Hansel and Gretel multiple times that I can retold it myself. By the time I realize it, another year pass by. I’m moving on to fourth grade. It was during this year that I was able to understand most of the english language. For the first time ever, I finally made a friend. Not just a normal friend. But my best friend. She taught me how to tie my shoes. She encourage me to open up to others. More importantly, she was really patient when working with me. For the first time ever, I actually enjoy attending school.
