Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo’s Influence on Western Culture Both Leonardo Da Vinci and Michelangelo had a major effect on western culture in many aspects, not art alone. While both artists were talented in many ways, Da Vinci had a longer lasting influence on western culture because of his involvement with sculpture, architecture, and paintings. Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci was born on the 15th of April in 1452. His family lived in Vinci, Republic of Florence, which is now known as Italy. He was talented in many aspects and grew up around art during the Italian renaissance, once of the most influential changes in the worlds of art, science, and religion. He was known throughout Florence as a talented musician as well as an artist. There was a two-year expanse of his life where nothing was recorded and none of his works were saved, but the following year he created many wonderful projects, few of which were finished. After creating many inspirational works, many of which were atomically correct, which was difficult during the renaissance due to the lack of understand for the human body and muscles. He also dissected horses to understand how their joints work to create still pictures that looked as if they could move. In 1519 he died at the age of 67 at Amboise, Kingdom of France. During his 67 years he created many famous paintings, his most famous being the Mona Lisa. Another one of his famous painting was the Last Supper, famous for it’s religious ties which were prominent during the time period. During the renaissance artists crossed many lines that were once considered taboo, the most famous being nude art. Michelangelo was one of these artists.
