Information and communications technology can indeed be applied to diverse range of human experience; the question is how this is possible? Nigeria as a state is full of so many issues that the application of information technology can make a difference. ICTs can be used as tools for national development. This research enlightens and highlights on how ICTs can be used as tools for the development of the education sector, the economy, the health care service sector, industries and so on. ICTs innovations and areas of investment were extensively discussed. Information technology, if accurately applied with the best of intention then development is not far off. Despite the broad potential of ICTs, their benefits have not been spread evenly. Indeed, using ICTs effectively to foster social inclusion and economic growth is among the key challenges facing policymakers today. The development of any country is crucial to the government of the nation and ought to be the priority of every government in power. So let’s remind ourselves of what ICT really means, ICT is not the same thing as computer as some have always thought, according to Evroro and Okumoku-Evroro (2014), ICT is concerned with the storage, retrieval, manipulation, transmission or receipt of digital data. For example with ICT those in a far village like Uzere in Delta state can get access to quality healthcare from consultants in specialist hospitals like university of Benin teaching hospital i.e. using ICTs for remote consultations between patients and physicians as well as remote diagnosis and even treatment; data collection for both research and diagnostic purposes; “real-time” collaboration between physicians and health researchers in different parts of the world; improving the speed and effectiveness with which nations and organizations respond to epidemics; and streamlining and improving health care services generally.
