Pets can be beneficial to people in so many ways and pets can be beneficial to people in so many ways people could not even imagine. Pets can be beneficial to individuals because pets have many health benefits to people, pets can help with depression and lower stress, and pets can help with fitness. Pets are beneficial to individuals because pets can help with people's health benefits. Individuals that own pets tend to have a lower blood pressure. Studies even show that owning a pet can help lower ones blood pressure. “Researchers at the State University of New York at Buffalo discovered that in people already taking medication for hypertension, their blood pressure response to stress was cut by half if they owned a cat or dog” (Shatzman 1). Owning a pet can help lower an individual's cholesterol. When owning a pet it can help with someone's cholesterol because if one owns a pet one can have for example a dog one can take them for a walk everyday which can help keep ones cholesterol in check.
