Geography is the study of the world, its people and the landscapes they create. Geography is also associated with climate and culture In Geography there have been many disasters. But there have been many achievements as well. Geography has affected peoples life for the better or worse. An example that Geography has affected peoples live for the worse is the disaster that happened in 49A.D when Mount Vesuvius erupted and killed thousands of people and completely wiped Pompeii of the face of the earth. In Pompeii the language they spoke was Latin, there was not even a word for volcano. They thought that that Mount Vesuvius was a regular Mountain. After hours when it ended people returned in hopes of finding survivors, but everyone who stayed behind were killed and the city of Pompeii seemed to have disappeared itself. People eventually forgot about Pompeii for thousands of year discovered again in 1748. It was a city lost in time. Another disaster is the Disaster of 2005 of Hurricane Katrina. Huricane Katrina was one of the worst Hurricanes, Cyclones to ever occur in the United States history. Its main point was New Orleans on August 29,2015. It was a deadly hurricane, killing over 1.00 people and damages up to more than 100 billion dollars. Though now it is different than thousands of years ago. There was a warning for the hurricane before it occurred. But most people could not leave becaue they had no way out they didn’t own cars. Many people fled, but also many stayed some in an Superdome.
