For example, the burning of fossil fuels places into the atmosphere carbon dioxide, which is causing gradual global warming. This is called the ‘greenhouse effect’ and is responsible for the increased average global temperatures. Such climate change adversely impacts every country, including Bangladesh. Stephen Hawking, the world’s most famous physicist, recently in an interview warned about the ultimate consequences of denying climate change. He stated that ‘we are close to the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible.’ Denying climate change will cause avoidable environmental damage and endanger the natural world. The earth could become like Venus, where the temperature is 250 degrees and rains sulfuric acid. Venus is the solar system’s hottest planet. The temperature is so high that metals like lead can melt. We cannot survive in such adversity. Thus climate change is one of the great dangers we face. However it can be prevented if we act now, added Stephen
