Of all the characters in the bible, my favorite is Daniel. He was not afraid to be faithful. He had utmost trust in God to the point where even with his life on the line; he still stayed strong to his beliefs and because of that, he ended up befriending the king of Babylon and the king after him. Daniel and I are alike in ways such as bravery and faith. We are different in ways such as how we are treated as believers of God and what protection we have against religious slams. His faith in God inspires me when my own faith is tested, and how he always listened to God makes me strive to listen for when He tells me what he wants me to do. We live in different time periods where people act and respond differently to certain things such as religion. In Daniel’s time period, people were far more apt to kill you for your religion, just because people tended to follow whatever religion or non religion that the leading power in the world at that time was following. The leading power in Daniel’s time, Babylon, was godless. In today’s time period, we are supposed to be one country under Gods leadership. Therefore we have more Christians and Christ centered denominations and they are widely accepted. Another difference between Daniels time period and mine is how you were treated as a believer in God. In Daniels time period, once again depending on the leading power, you could be risen up or beaten down. Only rarely, such as in Daniel’s case, did Christians amount to much unless the leader was also a believer. In today’s time period, Christians and other denominations are not put in to a lower class status or are unable to have high ranking jobs like other people can. We are, on this level, treated the same as others who don’t believe. We can still be slammed, but that doesn’t mean that the president can just issue a law that tells us not to worship and for us all to become atheists or to worship a pagan god. We have certain protected rights that Daniel didn’t
