Mary, (name changed for confidentiality), lived in a small neighborhood in the Anniston area. She shopped, went to church, and worked locally. She was a community member with Thompson Employees, but no one really noticed her or her problems. Mary’s husband was physically abusive. The start, the history, the pattern of physical abuse is her life and not ours to discuss. At age fifty-two, Mary left home for the 5th time and found a safe haven at 2nd Chance, a shelter for abused women. United Way, through donations of individuals such as the employees of Thompson Tractor in Anniston supports and contributes to the needs of this shelter. The term is, “for good”.
