Let me set the scene, three panelists are in an auditorium taking questions from a host and the audience on political and current event topics. The audience is made up of college students and this event is on a college campus. Throughout the event one of the panelists appears to be dodging questions while the other two argue with their responses, one liberal and one conservative. A young college students asks all three panelists why America is the greatest country in the world. The two vocal panelists give their star spangled answers while the third attempts to avoid the question all together. At this point during the event the host pushes the third panelist for a real “human” response, and finally with no holding back he unleashes what appears…show more content…
Why analyze this show, this scene, this specific speech? The answer is simple, the message that it delivers. When given a question of “Why is America the greatest country in the world?” the first two panelists give a quick one line responses that you would most likely to expect. The third (Main character) attempts to play it off and avoid the question but after being forced into it responds that it is not the greatest country. He provides the acting audience with shock and awe and the viewing TV audience with something that was not expected. He then provides solid reasons as to why it is not. He states that other states have freedom other than America and lists out several countries. He continues to provide details why the country is not the greatest, giving percentages and other facts. He inartistically then states that the country does lead in three categories but never really gives any facts behind it or where this information came from even though they might be true. The message could also be that just because you are asked one question doesn’t mean you have to answer it one way. You could look at the question and turn it into your own such as this. The speaker did not like the original question and thus responded to it
