During reading class, we were learning about heroism and the kind of challenges that heroes face. Heroism means to show bravery, selflessness,and bring justice: the basic qualities of a heroine. During our class discussion, I noticed that other students either brought up superheros like Batman or daily heroes like doctors and firemen. I then started to think about why the idea of heroism is so popular and important among people and even different cultures. We all have our own inner hero. The article, “10 Reasons Why We Need Heroes” by Scott T. Allison mentions that psychiatrist and psychotherapist, Carl Jung came up with the idea that “all humans have collectively inherited unconscious images, ideas, or thoughts, which he called archetypes.”
