So, Tim Burton was born on August 25, 1958, in Burbank California. Throughout time, Tim has become known for creating a visually striking experience within his films. Fascinated by pop culture and influenced by the love for Sci-Fi and Horror films, Burton began creating visually enticing films which blended the themes of fantasy and horror such as Edward Scissorhands and The Corpse Bride. The now famed director, producer and screenwriter was not always 'popular', it was his introverted persona that brought him into filmmaking. Burton spent most of his childhood as a recluse, drawing and watching movies. Considered as a misfit by those who surrounded him he spent his days feeding off horror and Sci-Fi films. To many people's surprise the movie became a success and it was from this film that Burton gained immediate popularity. It was not until 1988 that Burton produced another film, this was Beetlejuice (1988). Burton revealed "I didn't work for a long time between Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Beetlejuice because I didn't want to do the things they were offering me." But as soon as David Geffen asked him to do the movie he agreed. Tim loved the script from the beginning, he wrote that "It had the kind of abstract imagery that I like, with these strange character and images floating in and out. The script had no real story and made no sense but was filled with artistic and quirky opportunities which attracted Tim. Beetlejuice (1988) was the movie that solidified Tim Burton's name in Hollywood and became another big success. Shortly after Beetlejuice (1988) Warner Bros. gave Burton the opportunity to work on Batman (1989), this film became the most financially successful Gilmore of the year and one of Burton's most successful box-office hits.
