The society in The Giver by Lois Lowry and modern society both have many differences that make themselves unique. Based on the celebration of birthdays and the rights to a spouse, modern society is better than the society in The Giver by Lois Lowry. The society in The Giver celebrates birthdays differently than modern society. For example, in The Giver by Lois Lowry, all the members celebrate their birthdays until they reach twelve years old on the same day in December.
