Terrorism is using violence or a scare tactic to spread hate or a global agenda and sometimes the intent is to produce as many casualties as possible with an incident. Terrorist groups have used a number of different hazards such as explosions, Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) weapons and computer based cyber threats. Terrorist threats seem to be everywhere given the number of recent terrorist incidents recently in the news. There was recently an attack in London, where a vehicle was used to run over people along the London Bridge, and in Syria there was the use of a possible nerve agent on civilians in a chemical attack. There are numerous types of hazards that terrorists have used in recent years. The most lethal have been incidents of explosions as these occurrences tend to cause the most casualties. Explosive devices are easy to produce using household items and there are bomb making techniques that can be found on the internet. Another hazard that could be used in a terrorist incident is biological agents. “Biological agents are organisms or toxins that can kill or incapacitate people, livestock and crops. There are three basic groups of biological agents such as bacteria, viruses and toxins (Terrorism: Biological threats, 2017).
