The author Pico Iyer’s essay “Where worlds collide,” describes a bustling environment that many people are familiar with and he took simple observations to new depths. Additionally, he described the scene from the point of view of an overwhelmed immigrant that has hoped to reach the “land of opportunity”. I appreciated this point of view, as Iyer was able to incorporate his own experiences of travelling through LAX for his schooling when he was a young immigrant as well as for various trips throughout his adulthood. He elaborated on a location that he was familiar with, and through his experiences he was able to interpret the discrete physical cues that immigrants give upon their arrival.
